Pune’s 14 Year Old Nordic Skier Param Sahasrabudhe Clinches Back-to-Back Bronze Medal at Chinar Open Winter Games



Gulmarg, 20 Jan 2026(lokjagruti) In a remarkable achievement for Maharashtra and Indian winter sports, 14 year old Master Param Pushkar Sahasrabudhe Son of Colonel Pushkar Satish Sahasrabudhe from Chinchwad, Pune has created history by winning Bronze Medal at the prestigious Chinar Open Winter Games held in Gulmarg on 20 Feb 2026, marking his second consecutive medal victory at the event.
Param, a student of Army Public School, Bolarum, secunderabad, began his Nordic skiing journey in January 2024 at the age of 12. Initially he trained at Auli and later in Gulmarg, he quickly emerged as one of India’s most promising young Nordic Skier. Being the son of an Army officer, Param has travelled to various parts of the country, which has helped shape his discipline and resilience qualities, clearly reflected in his sporting journey.
In 2025, he represented Maharashtra at the Khelo India Winter Games 2025, where he competed in 10 & 15 km Cross-Country Skiing and 1.5 km Sprint Ski event against senior athletes from all over India, delivering an impressive performance. He also won Gold medal in National Biathlon Championship 2025 at Gulmarg in sub-junior category. With this consecutive Bronze Medal win at the Chinar Open Winter Games, Param strengthens his position as India’s only junior candidate in Nordic skiing. His long-term goal is to represent India at the Winter Youth Olympic Games 2028 in the Nordic Cross-country event.
In an interview, Param sincerely thanked HAWS, Indian Army, Ski & Snowboard Association Maharashtra & Sports Authority Maharashtra for providing an opportunity to achieve his goal. Param’s achievement is not only a proud moment for Pune & Maharashtra but also a significant milestone for winter sports development in India.
